“When you think you are overdue for a miracle in your life,
just remember you are right in the middle of one.”
Come celebrate with us!!!
The Memorial Garden is being built to remember those who have suffered from the disease of alcoholism and addiction and have lost the fight. We will be having a special Renewal Day on January 31st, 2014, as well as a “Ribbon Cutting” Ceremony as we break ground to begin the work. You can join us on Saturday, February 1st @ 9:30 to come help get the site ready, dig up the old jasmine, help with the fence posts, etc.
We will need a “volunteer crew” in place for the future to help maintain the Memorial Garden and Serenity Garden. If you wish to be apart of the team, simply email the alumnihopeline@gmail.com and let us know.
Recovery ROCKS!
We are asking all alumni to stop by on or after January 31st, 2014 to put your name and sobriety date on a recovery rock. These rocks will be placed in the Serenity Garden, in what eventually will be a dry creek bed.
What’s NEW in 2014…New Year – New You!
We have found a certified yoga instructor that will come and teach a Beginner’s Yoga class. Feel free to join us the 2nd Saturday of every month, in the gym from 3pm – 5 pm. Bring a yoga mat and/or towel if possible. Water will be provided. You will be amazed at how easy yoga can be and how it will renew your mind, body and spirit!

Is the Memorial Garden for any former Valley Hope Alums that have died in their disease, or only those whose families have agreed to participate ? I know to have a black ribbon ceremony, the family of the deceased must agree to it. Is this the same for the new garden ? Know two who have died in their disease, but the families refused thus far to agree to a black ribbon ceremony.
Darren,
I have looked into the issue with the families and such. After having a few discussions with corporate VH and getting others input about the garden…it is now being called the Garden of Hope. It is to help give some inspiration to others as well as show respect to those who have passed, by having bricks inscribed that may say…In loving memory, etc. There was some concern that the Memorial Garden was going to be to somber and possibly throw some over the edge when all they thought about was death when they walked passed. We will find our own way to remember those we all know who have passed. If you have any suggestions, comments etc., I would love to hear them. You can also make a contribution to the garden of hope if you wish, by clicking on the link on the webpage..”Give Hope 2 Others” Also the next time you stop by, please make sure you do your recovery rock…you put your name, sobriety date on the rock you choose and we will be making a dry river creek bed with these and incorporate them into the landscaping.
As a VH Alum, I really enjoy getting these emails, I only wish I was able to provide more, just as so many of the alumni played a vital role in my recovery……thanks for all you do!! Cody Th
