I am reminded every now and then that “working” on something, such as your recovery, relationships, job searching, learning to live life on life’s terms; that as long as your making progress then you are doing the right thing! That is how it’s been over the last month or so with the Garden of Hope. It has been slow going, however we have been making progress towards our goal of finishing it up. We have been in a “holding pattern” of a sort, waiting for various things to line up, however I am constantly reminded that all things are done in God’s perfect timing. This is the latest picture of the area that we have been constructing since February 1, 2014.
Please consider making a donation to the Alumni HopeLine that’s tax-deductible as well. Your donation will help us finish the garden which is being built to provide a place that will help encourage others, bring inspiration to some and bring hope to those learning to live all over again, this time without the use of alcohol or mind altering substances. Your donations will also be used to purchase needed art supplies for a new art area!
We also have a list of needed supplies if you wish to go purchase items yourself and donate in that way. Please email the email@example.com, in the subject line type “supply list”. Make sure your contact info is in the email as well. Someone will get back to you with where you can drop the items off or mail them. Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of others for generations to come!
This 12 Step Workshop is just the tool you will need for your everyday toolbox! It’s great when you are fresh into your recovery and you have all sorts of resources at hand. However we have all seen over the past few days that if you sit on your laurels for too long that you will fall back into “relapse mode”. Our disease is always lurking, looking for a way in. However we also know that we have a solution and that solution is by working the 12 steps, by working with others and showing them the way. That has always been one of primary goals is to help others and by taking part in this free workshop you will do just that! This is going to be a great resource for you who already chair meetings and for those of you who wish to do so in the future. Please take the poll so we can see how we can best accommodate everyone.
One other thing…please take the time to look through the entire webpage blog we have. There are some great resources and links we have provided…but I also know we can do better. Any suggestions, comments, feedback is always greatly appreciate in how we can help each other along.
And just to catch everyone up to speed…We did break ground this past Friday at Renewal Day and it was quite an experience and we were blessed with such great weather! A huge shout out and BIG Thank you goes out to CCL Landscaping, who have graciously donated some of their time to help make the project such a success! There are still many numerous things that we are in need of, such as sand, gravel and flagstone just to name a few; please contact the firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any of these items you would like to donate. We also have a link to the right hand side for those of you who would like to make a contribution financially to our Garden Of Hope project and many other projects, events, God Boxes, etc. we do. Just click on the “Give Hope 2 Others” and donate, it’s that easy! Thank you for your support and helping others along in their journey of recovery!
If you are wanting to help with the garden physically, getting things together, etc. then please email us as well, with your name and a contact number and we will be sure to keep you in the loop as to when we are out there working in it.
“When you think you are overdue for a miracle in your life,
just remember you are right in the middle of one.”
Come celebrate with us!!!
The Memorial Garden is being built to remember those who have suffered from the disease of alcoholism and addiction and have lost the fight. We will be having a special Renewal Day on January 31st, 2014, as well as a “Ribbon Cutting” Ceremony as we break ground to begin the work. You can join us on Saturday, February 1st @ 9:30 to come help get the site ready, dig up the old jasmine, help with the fence posts, etc.
We will need a “volunteer crew” in place for the future to help maintain the Memorial Garden and Serenity Garden. If you wish to be apart of the team, simply email the email@example.com and let us know.
We are asking all alumni to stop by on or after January 31st, 2014 to put your name and sobriety date on a recovery rock. These rocks will be placed in the Serenity Garden, in what eventually will be a dry creek bed.
What’s NEW in 2014…New Year – New You!

We are finally ready to take on the task of building our Memorial and Serenity Gardens! However we still need your help! We are looking for anyone who has access to building materials to make a donation of such to get us started. We are looking for pavestones, large rocks or flagstones, a trellis or two, benches, decorative landscaping material, about 150 feet of waist high fencing, etc. We have a company that is willing to donate their labor/time to the project. Now we just need the materials!
Our dream is to have a serene place where families and friends can go. To remember loved ones, who have passed from the terrible disease of alcoholism and addiction. To have a quiet place to spend time with God. A place that will help those receiving treatment to put a “name” with a “face” so to speak, so they can realize the gift that has been given to them. The gift of recovery, living One Day At A Time! We want this to be a beautiful, magical place complete with a waterfall or two. Yes when we dream, we dream big!
We are asking everyone to please consider making a monetary donation to our charitable cause. There is a link on the top right hand corner of this page, marked “Give HOPE 2 Others”. Click on the link and it will take you through the steps. If you are needing more information about our project or wish to speak to someone directly, then please email the firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you
for you generosity and God Bless!!!
We will now meet at GVH in the cafeteria on December 14th, 2013, right after the Alumni Recovery Mtg.
We still need the gloves you purchased, so please don’t forget to either drop them off at the donation station main reception desk or bring them on December 14th!!! We can not do this without your help!
So come join us and enjoy pizza, coffee, holiday music and help us put together the “care packages” to deliver on Christmas day. This is otherwise known as our “Warm Hearts Helping Warm Hands” alumni project and this is our 2nd year to do this. We will need volunteers to come out on Dec 25th to deliver the packages and serve hot chocolate and cookies and share your hope, from 10:30-12noon. Yes we are aware that is on Christmas day, feel free to bring your family and make it a new sober tradition! You won’t regret it!
Make sure you get all the latest updates from the group by joining today. Until next time, stay safe and warm and enjoy the “slower tempo” of life.
